We’re traveling across the United States, meeting people along the way, and asking about their lives, experiences, hopes, concerns, and views on the country.
We want to hear what life in America feels like from the people living it: what they love, what they worry about, and what they hope will change.
Most of all, we’re excited to listen, learn, and share what we hear.
Our Challenge
One of our biggest challenges will be connecting with people across a wide range of backgrounds, communities, ages, and experiences.
If we’re lucky, we may speak with a couple of people each week — about 100 conversations a year. Since we’ll also be working along the way, this project will grow gradually as we fit it into everyday life.
We’re not social scientists, and this is not a formal research study. The people we speak with won’t be a perfectly representative sample of the country. They’ll simply be the people who are willing to sit down, talk, and share their stories with us.
Some people may not want to participate, and that’s completely okay. We can only learn from those who choose to take part.
If the project grows, we’d love to invite others to help — possibly even as interviewers — so we can hear from more people in more places.
